Workshop | A Journey Through Self Care

What soothes your soul? Refills your cup? What do you need to feel fulfilled?

This is something I’ve been exploring over the last few months, and years. Especially since becoming a mother, it is way harder to put your own needs first. A hard lesson learned is: I can’t pour from an empty cup! Since my personal Radical Self Care experience, I have been making a point to fill my own cup EVERY DAY.

How do I do this? It’s simple things, but vital.

1) STAY HYDRATED. I pour a fresh jug of water every morning, and make sure I have drank it all by the time I go to bed. This keep me hydrated.

2) TIME ALONE. I take time to reflect, alone. Sometimes this is only 10-20 minutes, but it’s usually a slot of time after my son goes to school and before I go to work. Sometimes I write, sometimes I meditate, sometimes I walk or drive to the lake and enjoy nature.

3) HOME SPA. This necessity became very clear when I was away on my vacation. This is something I try to do at least once a week: Hot lavender bath with dead sea salts; Apply fresh lemon onto my face for 10 minutes, and cucumber slices on eyes, rinse off in bath before I get out; put on comfy clothes and do some restorative yoga. Drink lots of (lemon and/or cucumber) water!

4) SET GOALS. You have to know what you want, if you’re going to get it. Sometimes that’s the hardest part, deciding. But then you have to goal set, write down each and every tiny step to how you are going to create a life you love.

These are four things that I believe should be a part of everyone’s self-care kit. However beyond this we have our own individual passions and needs. The art work above was inspired by an afternoon road trip I took on Thanks Giving Weekend. How many of us travel alone? Try it, it’s amazing what you learn about yourself and the world. You don’t have to go far- my drive was just over an hour north and it totally inspired me to create. Art is another personal part of my self-care kit, I have learned it is a vital part of my mental-health and well-being. I feel good when I’m creating, and I feel good when I see something transform from my inner world to my outer world. What are you passionate about? JOIN US FOR A JOURNEY THROUGH SELF-CARE

On Saturday, March 12th in Port Hope from 1:00 – 4:00 PM we are going to journey through our own self-care experience.

The day will include:

  • natural facial
  • restorative yoga
  • meditation
  • self-care note book
  • herbal teas
  • healthy snacks
  • INSPIRATION!

We will gather, we will share our experiences, we will do some (guided) written reflection, and some goal setting! You will leave with a self-care package you can refer to any time you need to “refill your cup”!

The cost is $60 and includes everything. You do need to bring your own mat and blanket, and please wear comfortable clothing. You may want a head band too, to keep hair out of facials!

There is only room for 10 participants, so please register as soon as possible.
