I Didn’t Do Yoga For Five Days

And this is what happened…

My back seized up!

In one way I wasn’t surprised, because we had spent days cleaning, organizing, and re-arranging for the holidays. Of course my back is going to go out, if I’m not doing yoga to compensate for the physical challenges.

What did surprise me though, was the fact that I didn’t do yoga for five days! Despite any time away from teaching yoga, I normally have a regular home practice in the mornings and sometimes, depending how I’m feeling, in the evenings too. I know I feel my best when I rest and stretch daily.

This year, as soon as holidays started, I went into a different mode – sleeping in every morning, then pushing myself physically at home or out shopping, more socializing too, and at night I was on couch watching cheesy Christmas Movies and indulging in snacks and wine!

There is a consistent message throughout the health and wellness industry, that our habits are what build us. Every time I slide out of my health habits and routines, I swear, something goes wrong! And I don’t go “hardcore healthy” all the time (rarely in fact), I am more about the “middle path” where I balance my healthy habits with occasional indulgences, and there’s no consequences to that. But what this experience has taught me, is I can’t throw the healthy habits out the window for any long period of time, or there will be consequences!

I am back to stretching every morning and night, just a little bit to help heal and strengthen my back again. I’m listening to my body, and not pushing my limits like I did last week.

If you’re interested in trying some gentle yoga stretches, please reach out and take advantage of “one free class” online in the new year! You can view the schedule here: Yoga Classes. I look forward to hearing from you, and healing with you!

Jenni.
