Passionate Living

3/10

Welcome back to our chakra journey!  Yesterday we covered the first chakra, the root.

Today we cover the second chakra, the sacral.  This is my favorite energy center to work with.  It is an area of personal experience, and I strive to balance it daily.

THE SACRAL CHAKRA

This energy is a lovely glowing orange located within the sex glands and organs.  I like to imagine it as a radiant light vibrating through the whole pelvic area, helping to open and balance this chakra.

Common problems in this chakra area are related to fertility, menstrual problems, and other physical areas of the body such as hips and sometimes low back (which can also connect with the root chakra).

This chakra relates to your personal (chosen) relationships, sexuality, passion, and creative expression (or ‘birth’).  If you have any problems in these areas of  your body and life these are some questions to reflect on:  Am I happy in my chosen relationship(s)?  Do I struggle with creativity?  Do I express my passions fully?  What fears do I hold in my body (sacral) about relationships, sexuality, or conception/birth?

After reflecting on those questions, or areas of the body related to the sacral chakra, can you sense if that energy center is unbalanced?  If so, try some of these yoga exercises to help bring balance to this center of sexuality, passion and creativity!

YOGA FOR THE SACRAL CHAKRA

To help balance this energy center try some of these yoga exercises:

  • butterfly stretches
  • frog pose
  • wide legged forward bends (seated or standing)
  • squats
  • lunges
  • meditate on breathing orange energy into the sacral area of the body, in any poses or ideally in sivasana.

Please feel free to ask any questions or leave comments below, I will do my best to answer them accurately.

Tomorrow we will study the third chakra, the solar plexus.
