On Saturday, November 19th I will be hosting a new workshop “Finding The Calm In The Chaos.” This has been brewing for awhile, since creating “A Journey Through Self-Care” I knew there was more I wanted to offer in line with nurturing ourselves.
The self-care workshop was designed to simply give women a day to reset. Come enjoy healthy snacks, herbals teas, do some facials, some yoga, meditation and relaxation. A day to reconnect and find some ways to make nurturing ourselves a priority in our lives.
This new work shop takes that same idea, but much deeper. In this 3 hour workshop we will start to undo the guilt and programming of our daily obligations, to help combat (and prevent future) burn out. Whether it is health, work, family, or social events causing your stress, we will get to the root of why you’re feeling so crummy and give you tools to find YOUR calm in the chaos.
The afternoon will start with discussion around our current life scenario and why we might be burning out. We will talk about our nervous system, fight or flight, hormones, diet, exercise and listening to our bodies. We will talk about how work, education, money, people, and media influence how we feel and how they create our unconscious living.
We will work on a break down of our life, from year 1 to year 80, to help us see how we have created the life we are living, and help us prioritize for the years ahead. There will be a lot of reflection, discussion, and writing. We will make lists, set goals, work on letting go of what no longer serves us, and open up to receiving what does. We will learn to put value on our time just as much as money. How is the life you are living now, influencing your future? Is it productive or destructive? We will learn to weigh the pros and cons of the choices we are making.
The second part of the workshop we will work with body awareness: Yoga nidra combined with body talk. This is a deep relaxation process, where we will open up to receiving messages the body has to give us. Part of burn out is not listening to what our body is trying to tell us (days, weeks, months or years before); and so this is our opportunity to reconnect to our bodies and finally listen to them.
After we have done this discussion, writing, and body work, we will close the day by discussing (and possibly practicing) some ways we can continue to find our inner calm on a daily basis, which will help us prevent future burn out. Yoga, meditation, deep breathing, journalling, slow walks, or a hot bath are a few examples of how we can stop and give ourselves time to rejuvinate.
The purpose of this workshop is to help find clarity in whatever is creating your struggle in life; and we cannot find calm when we are overwhelmed in chaos. The chaos we have limited control over, but the inner calm is always there if we are diligent enough to make it a priority in our life. This is the key to preventing burnout.
Join us for an afternoon of self-care, and so much more.
