Self-Care at Christmas

This is the time of year we over-schedule, we over-spend, and we over-indulge and then we end up over-whelmed! We want to celebrate, naturally, and catch up with all our old pals, plus family events and work events! How can we say no? It’s not easy.

Below I have listed a variety of small to big ways you can help yourself with some self-care this holiday season –

  • Treat yourself to a yoga class (I offer free videos on YouTube but also have a free live guided meditation online on January 2nd, 2026 – join my newsletter to receive that invite: The Gentle Way of Hatha).
  • Sip something soothing – soups, teas, or hot cocoa!
  • Give yourself a few hours alone. How? You might have to say no to a few other things to make space for your sanity. Even just an hour alone can help us regulate if we are feeling overwhelmed. Do something that helps you feel “refilled.” Read, walk, watch a funny show, draw, journal, nap, stretch, dance! You get the idea, it’s personal.
  • Avoid over-scheduling yourself. My tool for preventing this is to have a calendar on my wall and I write EVERYTHING down. It’s a visual reminder when things get too crowed, to re-assess.
  • Gift yourself a massage, or mani-pedi, or a spa day! ‘Tis the season of giving, right?
  • Get outside! Nature is a great way to help the body and mind heal. You might enjoy these blogs for some extra inspiration:

As much as the holidays are about celebrating with family and friends, it’s also important to set boundaries and take care of YOU. It’s not selfish, it’s vital for your well-being. So stop guilt-tripping yourself and let me know in the comments – how are you going to care for yourself this Christmas?
