Yogi Tea

To all the chai lovers out there, you might want to give this spin of it a try! It’s all the same ingredients, but brewed longer for a more ayurvedic-style concoction, and as a result was given the label “yogi tea.”

It took me a long time to warm up to herbal teas, I had to try a lot of drinks I didn’t like to find the handful of teas I do like. I have learned I dislike florally and berry-flavoured teas, and tend to steer toward sweeter flavours such as pepperment, ginger, roobis, and chai blends.

This being said, up until recently, I have only used dry teas. Then I watched this yoga video that popped up on YouTube by Yoga With Adriene, where she makes a batch of “Yogi Tea” with whole and fresh ingredients! I thought “I need to try this!”

The delicious aromas that will fill your home is worth this herbal tea experimentation! The ingredients are whole peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon sticks, fresh ginger slices, and black tea (I just used a regular tea bag). Each ingredient boasts therapeutic benefits (you can google them, or listen in the video above).

This is my new favourite thing in life! I have been brewing a fresh batch every few days, and love the smell, flavours, and warmth this tea offers. I highly recommend you try it too!

What teas do you normally drink? Have you ever brewed from fresh ingredients? What is your favourite? Feel free to share your tea-loving-experiences in the comments below!

  1. I like President’s Choice chocolatey chai tea bags. Roast chicory, carb pod, ginger root, licorice root and hint of cocoa bean. No caffeine.
I use a glass cup because I like the colour of the tea which adds to my savouring.
I am off to Bulk Barn to get ingredients for Adrienne’s recipe.
Peace and abundance to all. Rob Owens, Meditation Teacher https://spiritkeep.ca/

    1. No caffeine is great, especially if you like tea before bedtime; keep in mind this yogi tea is caffeinated if that’s an issue you might want to skip the black tea ingredient! Let me know what you think after you’ve tried it!
