Have you heard of this? I just learned about it last week, and it is changing my life and how I feel about business. This was the video I watched if you are interested in learning more for your own business: Diary of a CEO with guest Kevin O’leary.
I had never heard of this theory, and it is not an easy one to follow since most of life is “noise.” The idea is if you can choose 3-5 things (signals) that need to be done in the next 18-hours to move your business forward, and actually DO THEM, you will be successful. They will likely change each day, and they are the most important things you need to get done. Interestingly, this is how I used to function in my 20’s while building the yoga business. To this day, there’s a constant list of “to do’s” in my realm… but do I do them? Do I focus (or even know) what is most important? Sure – laundry, groceries, dishes, keep kid fed and alive, and repeat!
The truth is since being diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and after years of pushing through unexplained pain and exhaustion, I have been struggling to focus on anything beyond getting through each day. It has been a roller-coaster adapting to meds, and I have not felt like “myself” in years. Yet, I feel that changing, I feel I am returning to “myself.” Like I can pick back up where I left off, back in 2010.
What I am also realizing is, if I even just accomplish ONE signal a day, that is huge for me. My lists of to-do’s is so much more clear and focused now. I even taught myself how to make a YouTube banner in “Canva” and how to make a YouTube “intro” in a film editing program. I blew my own mind this week!
Over the past 6 months I have had to cut out a lot of noise, and not by choice. Being sick forced me to reprioritize, and to be diligent with how I spent any of my time and energy. The only thing I’ve been doing is teaching my 4 yoga classes each week, and enjoying time with my kid, and resting a lot. Finally, I feel like I am regaining some energy and focus again.
I am excited to share that I will begin to use my YouTube channel much more. You can subscribe and follow along to learn more about who I am, what I do, why you need yoga, why meditate, and many other topics in the future. It’s a bit of an experiment, but believe YouTube has become the new version of “blogging.” People want videos, not articles. Is there anything you would like to learn about? Let me know in the comments!
