Blog Award? What’s That Mean?

Being relatively new to this blogging scene, or at least new to how it works, I was surprised to be nominated for the Liebster Award by Yoga With Mareshwari.  So thank you Mareshwari!  I am slow to understand this nomination… apparently the nomination is the award and so you move ahead by answering 11 questions (from the person who nominated you), and then nominating 11 more bloggers and ask them 11 more questions.

Eleven random facts about  me are: 1) Born August 25, 1979. 2) Graduated as a Yoga Instructor in June 2004. 3) Opened my first yoga business in August 2006. 4) Expanded that business in December 2006. 5) Returned to college September 2008 to study Child and Youth Work, and continued to run yoga business. 6) Closed yoga studio and moved to BC in September 2010.  7) Moved back to Ontario and had baby in March 2011. 8) Graduated college on the Dean’s List in June 2012. 9) Started teaching yoga again in May 2012. 10) Started working as a CYW part-time in August 2012. 11) Through-out my life I have had a passion for art and writing.

What is one of your favorite quotes?
“To understand everything is to forgive everything” -Buddha

I like this quote today as I am struggling with forgiveness, and yet in my heart my anger disappears as I come to understand the many sides of each truth.

What is your favorite season?
Winter 🙂

What is your favorite dessert?
Fresh fruit (or a close second is homemade apple pie!)

Who inspires you?
Krishnamurti, Gandhi, Mother Teresa… anyone who can throw off the shackles of society in the attempt to improve the lives of others or make a difference in the world.

What is your dream job? 
To own yoga studios across Canada, and retreats around the world.  I long to travel, write books, and teach workshops that inspire people to discover their truths and find their peace.

What is your favorite movie and why?
Immortal Beloved… perhaps it is the (barely alive) romantic in me?  It is a story about Beethoven and his star-crossed love.  Also, Moonlight Sonata is my favorite piece of classical music, I love the sound of a passionate piano…

Why did you start blogging?
I love to write, and when I started my business it took me 10 years just to get a website going. At that point I also started my wordpress blog about yoga.  When I had problems with my website, wordpress actually proved to be the more reliable source for getting my yoga information out to the world.  Now I have three different wordpress blogs!  This yoga blog, a personal-experimental-blog and a journalling blog.

Where would you like to travel one day?
The entire west coast of North and South America.  From top to bottom…

What is one of your hobbies?
Painting.

What is your favorite song?
Lets go with Moonlight Sonata… keep the Beethoven theme alive.

Who is your celebrity crush?
If I had to choose one (I am not big on following celebs…) it would be Johnny Depp… why not?
