When I began this blog in October 2010, I had no idea what I was doing.
After building a steady yoga business for six years in Port Hope, Ontario, I had uprooted and was living in Gibsons, British Columbia and was four months pregnant.
Starting a blog was a way to stay in touch with yoga students, share my yoga stories, and keep my website moving. I knew nothing about ‘followers’ or the blogging community that existed here on WordPress…
I spent two years blogging sporadically, once a month was a good month if I got to a blog. Things changed when my website expired and I decided to replace it with this wordpress blog.
Summer 2012 I started teaching yoga in Cobourg, Ontario with the intent of rebuilding my business in the Northumberland community. It was not until autumn 2012 that I decided to invest some personal time into learning about blogging, WordPress, social media and marketing for my business. A whole new world opened up!
I started an experimental blog that gained 100 likes in a week: meanwhile my yoga blog of two years had none!! I knew I was onto something… At that point I started blogging consistently, exploring other blogs in the WordPress community and for the first time my yoga blog started gaining some followers and comments.
In November 2012 I was invited to write a guest post for Black Box Warnings, and in January 2013 I was added to their blog roll. In December 2012 I was nominated for the Liebster Award by Yoga With Maheshwari and again in March 2013 by My Inner Yogi.
Thank you to all of you who have helped The Gentle Way Of Hatha gain recognition!
This is my third year in the WordPress world of blogging, and I am just beginning to understand it’s full potential, and use it to its full advantage! 200 followers may not sound like a lot when I see others with thousands of followers! But for a ‘niche’ yoga blog, I think slow and steady counts for a lot! I wasn’t sure I would ever make it to 200 followers, and here we are growing a little more every day!
Be sure to like The Gentle Way Of Hatha on Facebook too, or connect on Linked In!
Jenni,
